Materra is committed to respecting your privacy and complying with applicable laws and regulations to ensure that the personal information you give us is kept appropriately secure and processed fairly and lawfully.
This Platform, its services and this Privacy Policy are provided by Materra Limited, a company incorporated and registered in England and Wales with company number 11811151 (referred to in this Policy as "we, "us" and "our"). Your personal information will be collected, processed, and managed by Materra, Hotjar, and any additional third-party service providers of Materra, as outlined in this Privacy Policy.
This Privacy Policy governs and covers the collection, use, and protection of all the personal information that can identify or contact an individual. This personal information is collected, used, and processed in connection with your relationship with Materra, whether as a client, service recipient, project participant or potential client/potential service recipient/potential project participant during your use of the Platform.
Materra is committed to respecting your privacy and complying with all applicable laws and regulations to ensure that the personal information you provide is kept secure and processed fairly and lawfully.
2. Acceptance of the Privacy Policy
By visiting and using Platforms that we make available from time to time for various reasons including promotion, use of products, technology and/or services or implementing training including ground support directly or indirectly or by contacting our Materra Team or any Materra staff, you acknowledge that you have read and agree to this Privacy Policy. You must be at least 18 years’ old to use the Platforms.
Please note that this Privacy Policy shall be read in conjunction with the accompanying General Terms & Conditions, Website Terms & Conditions and Cookie Policy for the use of this Platform.
3. Personal Information Collection and Usage
Materra will collect and use your personal information as described in this Privacy Policy and as permitted by applicable laws, including in circumstances where:
- it is necessary to provide or fulfil a service/product requested by or for you;
- you have given us your consent; or
- it is necessary for one or more of the following legitimate interests pursued by Materra:
- to analyse, profile and monitor market, farming and crop patterns and better understand the interests and preferences of our clients and farmers so we can consistently improve our products and services;
- to offer an enhanced user experience and service, including by ensuring we personalise the Platforms and (if applicable) updates relating to products, services and events to make them more relevant to our clients’ specific preferences;
- to ensure the proper functioning and security of our services, Platforms, for example by identifying and preventing fraudulent transactions;
- to analyse the response or feedback of services, products and/or Platforms for internal reporting purposes and to ensure adequate and appropriate products and resources; or
- to ensure we continue to comply with applicable laws, for example in maintaining the accuracy of our records.
Please note that Materra services/products include any services/products/communications directly or indirectly provided by Materra itself or through its own business partners network, affiliates, subsidiaries, third-party vendors or service providers, authorized representatives, and business associates.

When you register for an account with us (whether on the Platform or offline), participate in any program, interact with our team on your computer or mobile device, enrol with us for any project or send us an enquiry, we will collect certain information from you. We will indicate whether this collection involves personal information and, if it does, whether providing your personal information is voluntary or mandatory for the service. Please be aware that where the collection is mandatory, we may not be able to provide the relevant products or services to you if you do not provide that information to us.

Additional Information
Providing us with certain personal information is voluntary but we may not be able to process your order and/or send you the required support and enable communications if you do not provide us with certain requested information.
We may also use your contact information to send you marketing communications and to contact you in relation to service-related matters, including aftercare services or to assist you in relation to prospective projects/programs and, on occasion, to request and respond to feedback relating to Materra services/products. This feedback may relate to matters including Materra’s brand, products and services and/or your experience and satisfaction with Materra. We will only use your contact information where permitted to do so in accordance with applicable laws or if we have your consent to do so (if required by applicable laws).
Together with non-personal information, we may also use different demographic insights from a user’s profile and use case/ behavioural activity for our internal marketing analysis and demographic studies, to analyse, profile and monitor client/service recipient patterns so we can consistently improve Materra services/products. This means that we can offer more personalised and integrated support services and interactive experiences to our client/service recipient across our Platforms or during offline/in-person support.
We use all the information above and any other (wherever applicable) to ensure the proper functioning and security of our Platforms, to optimise Materra services/products and to better understand how our content and Materra services/products are used and their effectiveness for the Users.
5. How Personal Information May Be Collected
We collect personal information from you directly. We may also collect personal information from you indirectly, including through your use of the Platforms.
We may supplement the information we collect about you with marketing and demographic information which we receive from our business partners and affiliated third-party companies, in addition to other information which is available in the public domain or which we are otherwise lawfully permitted to be provided with in order to ensure the accuracy of our records, better understand the interests and preferences of our key client/service recipient audiences and improve the Platforms. If you don’t want us to use your personal information in this way then you can contact us at any time to ask us to stop (please refer to Point 7 of this Privacy Policy for information on how to exercise your rights).
Transaction-related information may be shared with us by our business partners and other third parties in order to identify and investigate suspected fraudulent transactions, for recording purposes and to support the security of Materra services/products, where permitted in accordance with applicable laws.
Cookies
Cookies are small text files that are sent to or accessed from your web browser or your device’s memory. A cookie typically contains the name of the domain (internet location) from which the cookie originated, the “lifetime” of the cookie (i.e. when it expires) and a randomly generated unique number or another identifier. 6. Sharing/Transfer of Personal Information
- Members of our Group or Affiliated Companies or Business Partners
We may share your personal information with other companies in the Materra group (including joint ventures of Materra) globally (“Affiliated Companies”) and selected service providers (which may include business partners) who assist in providing Materra products and/or services or perform other functions on our behalf such as fulfilling orders, implementation of technology, processing payments, and carrying out services or data management as permitted by applicable laws or with your consent (if so required by applicable laws). We may also share aggregated or anonymised information that does not directly identify you.
- Vendors and Service Providers
To assist us in meeting the needs of various business operations, services and functions, we may provide personal information to selected third-parties, whether our Affiliated Companies or selected service providers or vendors like Hotjar etc who assist us in providing Materra products and/ or services or perform other functions on our behalf such as fulfilling orders, implementation of technology, processing payments, and carrying out services such as cloud hosting, customer services, email communication software, web analytics, information technology, and data management services, among others, as permitted by applicable laws or with your consent (if so required by applicable laws). Pursuant to our instructions, these third parties will access, process, or store personal information only in the course of performing their duties to us.
- Order Dispatch and Delivery Partners
Where your order is delivered by Materra’s third-party delivery or order dispatch service providers, only the personal information necessary for delivery purposes is provided to them. The privacy policy of the third-party delivery or order dispatch service providers may also apply when they process your personal information in their capacity as a data controller under applicable data protection laws.
- Financial Institutions, Payment Processing Partners and Fraud Management Solution Providers
Payments made or received using the Platforms are facilitated through our payment solutions providers. We may also direct you to our providers’ sites if you wish to make remote payments or payment requests. Additionally, any credit facility or financial support facility received during any Materra program or services or engagement, will require you to provide additional financial information directly to the respective financial assistance providers.
When you make a payment, we may share your personal information, including details of your transaction, with service providers who may provide fraud detection and management solutions related to your transaction.
- Legal Disclosures
In certain circumstances (where required or permitted under applicable laws or with your consent (if so required by applicable laws), we may disclose personal information relating to you to third parties (including in other jurisdictions) in order to conform to any requirements of the law, to comply with any legal or regulatory process, to obtain legal advice, for the purposes of risk reduction, to prevent and detect fraud and/or to protect and defend the rights and property of Materra.
- Transition in Business Structure
In the event that we or a part of our business undergo re-organisation or are sold or licensed to a third party, any personal information we hold about you may be transferred to that re-organised entity, licensee or third party.
- Inter-Jurisdictional/Overseas Transfer
The personal information that you provide through the Platforms or offline is processed in the United Kingdom and is stored on servers in the following country(ies): [United Kingdom/India].

You have the right to request a free copy of the personal information that we hold about you.
If you think any of your personal information that we hold is inaccurate, you have the right to request it be updated. We may ask you for evidence to show it is inaccurate.
You have the right to request that we stop processing, or delete, all of your personal information that we hold. If you exercise this right we will keep a note of your name linked to your request and it won’t prevent us from processing any information provided subsequent to your request.
You have the right to ask us to electronically move, copy or transfer your personal information in a machine-readable format.
We sometimes use your personal information to make decisions by automated means. This involves us analysing your account activity including applications, communication, orders, payments etc. We do this to confirm your identity, support, prevent and detect crime. This automated decision-making is necessary if you would like to continue engagement with Materra. You have a right to reject automated decisions but it may mean that you won’t be able to receive complete services on the Platforms. Where we are relying on your consent for processing you can withdraw or change your consent at any time.
The above rights may be limited in some circumstances, for example, if fulfilling your request would reveal personal information about another person, if you ask us to delete information that we are required to have by law, or if we have compelling legitimate interests to keep it. We will let you know if that is the case and will then only use your information for these purposes. You may also be unable to continue using our products/services if you want us to stop processing your personal information.

8. Retention And Deletion of Personal Information
We will only keep your information as long as you remain an active client/service recipient and for five years afterwards or otherwise as required for our business operations or by applicable laws. We may need to retain certain personal information even once a client/service recipient account has been closed or deleted to enforce our terms, to comply with legal or regulatory obligations, for fraud prevention, to identify, issue or resolve legal claims and/or for proper record-keeping purposes. We may also retain a record of any stated objection by you to receiving Materra updates for the purpose of ensuring we can continue to respect your wishes and not contact you further. Your personal information will be deleted or destroyed in a manner that cannot be restored or reproduced.
How long we retain your personal information will depend on a number of factors, such as the amount, nature, and sensitivity of the personal information, the potential risk of harm from unauthorized use or disclosure, our purpose for processing the personal information, and any legal requirements.
Upon request for deletion or erasure, or as required by applicable laws, your personal information will be deleted or destroyed in a manner that shall prevent any kind of restoration or reproduction of such data.
9. Children
Our Platform imposes a minimum 'Age Limit'. Materra’s Platform and its Services are not intended for individuals under the age of 18 years, where it is illegal to process their personal data, or when parental consent is needed for such processing.
We do not knowingly collect or use personal data from individuals under the specified age limit. If you are below this age limit, please refrain from using the Platform and refrain from providing any personal information.
If you are a parent of a child under the age limit and become aware that your child has provided personal information to us or on the Platform, please contact us. In the event that we discover the collection of personal information from a child under the applicable age limit, we will take reasonable steps to delete this personal information. This may involve deleting the account associated with that child on our Platform.
10. changing policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The amended Privacy Policy will be posted on the Platforms. Please check this page regularly for changes to this Privacy Policy. If we make any material changes to this Privacy Policy we will notify you and obtain your consent (if required by applicable law) before they take effect either through the Platforms or offline.
